IMSA has confirmed 48 full-season entries for the 2024 season of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, featuring an enhanced LMP2 field and the debut of two new makes of GT3 machinery.

A total field count of 48 entries are spread across four classes – GTP, LMP2, GTD Pro and GTD – with nine additional cars compared to 2023, thus an increase of 25 per cent.

IMSA President John Doonan said: “We continue to ride an amazing wave of momentum as evidenced by the number of teams and race cars that have committed to our 2024 WeatherTech Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup seasons.

“To have this many teams confirmed for next year is a testament to the stability of the platform we have collectively built.

“Being able to make this announcement in October – even before our 2023 season has been completed – helps us carry that momentum into the offseason and enables IMSA fans to make their 2024 plans that much earlier.”

Next year’s schedule will run 12 different venues, with five of those rounds as part of the Endurance Cup season.

In the premier GTP class, 11 approved entries have made the cut, with the departure of Meyer Shank Racing and the debut of Lamborghini Iron Lynx’s LMDh SC63 solely for the Endurance Cup rounds, beginning with the Roar Before the 24 and the 24 Hours of Daytona next January.

In LMP2, the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport and #74 Riley teams will run their first IMSA campaign after the LMP3 removal is implemented after Petit Le Mans, plus the return of United Autosports‘ with two entries.

All but one team will run Oreca 07s, as the #33 Sean Creech outfit will run the only Ligier JS P217.

In GTD Pro, the field has doubled in size as 10 entries make up the works-professional GT3 cars and teams.

Corvette Racing By Pratt and Miller Motorsports will debut two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs whilst Ford Multimatic Motorsports will do the same for their Ford Mustang GT3 to reignite their historic Chevrolet vs Ford rivalry.

Risi Competizione will only do the five Endurance Cup rounds, whilst Iron Lynx and Sun Energy 1 will only do selected endurance races.

GTD retains its characteristic as the largest IMSA WeatherTech class, featuring 17 cars for the full 10-round GTD season.

Only AWA will run two cars, notably of which are a pair of new Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs.

Four additional teams are entered for all five endurance rounds: AF Corse, Triarsi Competizione, Cetilar Racing and Iron Dames. One Iron Lynx entry will compete in selected Endurance Cup events.
